Hey we’re WOCDC, and we’re hiring the Director of Marketing and Communications to play a critical leadership role in advancing the WOCDC brand and digital marketing practice.
This is a hybrid volunteer position that includes both remote and in-person work when needed. This position also includes a $600 honorarium. We are currently accepting racialized women, femmes and non-binary people that are connected to or live in Durham Region, Ontario, as applicants. This is a position under a contract that extends to May 31st, 2024, with the possibility of renewal.

WOCDC has been focused on increasing its community reach and ramping up its programs and internal operations. We are approaching the next phase of our journey, where we heavily focus on diving deeper into the untold stories of Durham Region, reflecting the needs of our Collective and scaling up to becoming a non-profit. This is going to be an exciting, stimulating and fun transition, and we need a Director of Marketing Communications to help us as we enter this new chapter.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Marketing and Communications will manage and lead the marketing team by providing strategic guidance in executing the brand and marketing campaigns.
What you’ll do:
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the Marketing subteam
- Provide strategic guidance to team around content strategy, development and execution of social media channels and content posting schedules
- Develop and execute WOCDC’s brand strategy and creative principles in partnership with the executive team
- Oversee development of Marketing campaigns and projects in collaboration with community partners and stakeholders
- Responsible for regular website maintenance, social media analytics reporting, and email marketing campaign deployments
- Other duties as assigned

- Demonstrated project management experience
Assets:
- Strong depth of experience in key disciplines, including social media marketing, email marketing, website management, brand development, integrated marketing planning and execution
- Experience using MarTech tools such as Mailchimp, Wordpress, etc.
- Photography/Videography experience
