Hey we’re WOCDC, and we’re hiring a Community Relations and Social Impact Strategist to strengthen community connections and foster a deeper sense of community through online engagements (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, etc.).
This is a hybrid volunteer position that includes both remote and in-person work when needed. This position also includes a $600 honorarium. We are currently accepting racialized women, femmes and non-binary people that are connected to or live in Durham Region, Ontario, as applicants. This is a position under a contract that extends to May 31st, 2024, with the possibility of renewal.

WOCDC has been focused on increasing its community reach and ramping up its programs and internal operations. For 2023, we are focused on the theme of reconnection, diving deeper into the untold stories of Durham Region, uncovering the current needs of the communities we serve and exploring the outdoors. We have an exciting year ahead, and we need a Community Relations & Social Impact Strategist to help us move with intention.
Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications, you will be responsible for leading and executing innovative community initiatives on our social media platforms that not only drive social impact but also bolster community engagement through relationship-building.
What you’ll do:
- Develop, execute and assess new Community initiatives on WOCDC socials to achieve social impact outcomes aligned with WOCDC’s strategic goals
- Support ongoing WOCDC marketing initiatives and creative projects such as Womxn Wednesdays, Community Care Sundays etc.
- Work in partnership with the Marketing and Community Development Teams to implement and execute community initiatives/programs to amplify Community reach
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Community members and partners, as well as other stakeholders
- Other duties as assigned
Successful candidates will:
- Have a background in marketing, public relations and/or community work (experiences through education, employment or volunteering are accepted)
- Work well in a highly collaborative environment
- Be ready to pitch creative ideas and lead them into implementation
- Have strong networking skills and strong connections within Durham Region
- Have creative design and project management skills
- Have confident and engaging communication skills
